INTRODUCING ... the Joel and Myndi Lawrence Family

The Pastoral Search Committee of Central Baptist Church is proud to announce that Joel Lawrence is being recommended to the Board of Stewards to be the next senior pastor of Central Baptist Church.

Joel and his family currently reside in the Shoreview, MN area and excitedly anticipate moving into Saint Paul sometime in 2013, pending the Call.

Joel and Myndi have four children, three girls and one boy. Bethany is the oldest at nearly 9 years of age, followed by twins Anna and Katherine who are 7. Micah is five and is good at getting into his sisters’ stuff.

Joel has been the lead teaching pastor at Calvary Church’s (Roseville, MN) north campus for the past four years. He has also served as associate professor of Theology at Bethel Seminary from 2005 to the present. Joel is excited to transition to where he feels most called—to be the shepherd of God’s flock as senior pastor of Central. They have a heart for people and most days/nights their home is filled with kids and families from around the community.

GREAT NEWS! Approved Candidate for the next Senior Pastor of Central Baptist Church

The Pastoral Search Committee met with the Central Baptist Church Board of Stewards on Monday November 19, 2012, to bring before the board a recommendation for the candidate for Senior Pastor. Dr. Joel W. Lawrence was introduced on paper and after a lengthy presentation and discussion, the recommendation to have Joel as the candidate for senior pastor was unanimously approved by the Board. The approved candidate was then announced at the Annual Meeting of the church on Sunday, November 25.

More information on Joel Lawrence and family will be provided in the next blog post.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support through this search process.

Town Hall Meetings

The Pastoral Search Committee (PSC) announces that a series of town hall meetings will be held to further engage the congregation and gather information to create the profile document for the search process for the next Senior Pastor.
Dates (time & location) are as follows:
§  Sunday, May 6 – Sunday School Hour at CBC
§  Sunday, May 6 – Home of Catherine Westby – 4pm
§  Monday, May 7 – Home of Bill (G.W.) Carlson – 7pm
§  Tuesday, May 8 – Home of Janet Boyd – 7pm
These meetings are open to everyone regardless of your participation in the Pastoral Search Survey. The goal of these meetings is to have an open and moderated forum to go deeper with some of the results of the survey as well as addressing other things that really are best discussed in a group setting versus a survey.
Please contact any of the PSC members with any questions you might have. More detailed information on the town hall meetings will be posted closer to the event dates.

THANK YOU! CBC Pastoral Survey Now Complete

Thank you to everyone who participated in the CBC Pastoral Search Survey. The survey was conducted over a two week time period with the greater purpose of collecting information to create a PERSONAL, CHURCH, and PASTORAL profile.
The Pastoral Search Committee (PSC) will now deliberate over the results of the over 100 surveys to determine the best way to prepare these three profiles and then position them in a way to attract the best candidates for the position of Senior Pastor.
Please continue to be in prayer for the PSC. It seems that for as much as we have been able to accomplish over the past month, there is still so much work to be done. This is a very lengthy and deliberate process and your prayers and words of encouragement are so much appreciated.
Feel free to email Kirby Stoll, chair of the PSC, at krstoll@nwc.edu OR you can feel free to talk with any of the members of the PSC. We will share with you any information deemed “public” and take any questions that we are not at liberty to answer back to the committee.
Blessings,

About the Pastoral Search Process

The Pastoral Search Committee has been formed and the committee is holding regular meetings to work through the process that will ultimately lead to the calling of our next senior pastor.

The immediate action steps that the search committee will take include:

§  Gathering input from the congregation concerning the church and pastor profile. Each member of the congregation will have an opportunity to tell the search committee the qualities it should seek in the new senior pastor through a survey and series of town hall meetings. Watch for how you can be a part of this effort in the near future.

§  Assembling the church profile. This includes the wonderful brochure that was developed by the Board of Stewards, but more than that will be how Central is portrayed to prospective applicants. This document is important so that candidates can understand the heart of Central Baptist Church.

The search committee intends to communicate with the congregation on a monthly basis. Additional information will be provided more frequently as there becomes more information to communicate. Please watch The Connection, the Sunday bulletin, and Life in the Church (announcements) for more information.

Prayer for this process is vital. The search committee started their journey with an amazing two-week prayer initiative to seek God on a number of levels. Your personal and corporate prayer is needed and is much appreciated. The search committee will do its best to communicate general and specific requests for which you can pray.

Please keep the process and the following search committee members in your thoughts and prayers as often as they come to mind. Please also feel free to contact the search committee chair, Kirby Stoll, with any questions or comments at any point along the way. Kirby can be reached by email at krstoll@nwc.edu.
